Who We Are
Appalachia Training Institute (ATI), LLC (DCJS #88-10749) is located in beautiful downtown Vinton, Virginia. ATI is predominantly female-owned, with these two partners possessing valuable business skills, in addition to a third partner who is a Navy veteran experienced in
myriad aspects of private security.
Appalachia Training Institute offers both the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and non-DCJS courses. DCJS classes include entry-level coursework required to become an unarmed private security officer, armed private security officer, a Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP), or a private investigator. ATI also offers coursework to renew a current registration, satisfying in-service requirements. These classes are instructor-led; thus, opportunities for sharing experience, asking questions, and role-playing engagement are available.
Appalachia Training Institute's non-DCJS classes are valuable not only for the private security field but also for employees of public entities, industries, businesses, organizations, governmental sites, NGOs, etc. Such classes include customer service, advanced interviewing, and advanced report writing. Such instruction aids in job
obtainment, position enhancement, employment advancement, career transition, and
personal self-improvement.

How to Pay
All students must register and pay for the course before the date the course is held. You can do this by contacting us at (540) 595-9316, and we will take your payment over the phone. We use the Clover Pay System, and you will be emailed a receipt after you pay. There are no refunds except under limited circumstances.
